Throughout his life Cromwell commanded the New Model Army which defeated the Royalists in the English Civil War. He also led a campaign against the Scottish army(1650-51).Not only was Oliver Cromwell a excellent military leader he excelled in the political realm of his time. He was elected into the House of Parliament. He also went through a religious conversion, choosing the independent style of Puritanism to live out the rest of his life.
