Who would be the audience
for your media product?
What is your gender?
For my first question I initially wanted an outcome of more girls than boys to answer
this question, because that’s who I wanted to aim my magazine because being a girl
myself I feel like I can relate better to females and I could provide greater quality
content for them. But since I got an unexpected result I was forced to change my
target audience, so to compromise I decided to aim my magazine at both genders so I
could appeal to a wider audience; making sure I have as many readers as possible.
What is your age?
I then asked ‘What is your age?’, the response was 6 teens and only 1 adult; I’m glad
I got this result because right from the start of this task I had wanted my magazine
to appeal to teens because I relate to teenagers more so I would know what style
and content they like, my results only reinforced my plan to do a teen magazine.
What genre of music are you most interested in?
The third question was about music genres, I wanted to see which one was most
popular with the public so I could get the most amount of readers possible;
although Pop was the second best category, I still made my magazine in the Pop
genre because I felt that I knew this genre better, being a fan of Pop myself, so I
would be able to give the articles more depth and make them appeal more.
Would you be interested in a music magazine
that includes fashion?
My fourth question got quite an even response overall but the majority did say
yes, however I was still aware that just under half of the people asked said no to
fashion- so to ensure I was still appealing to both sides I decided to include only a
few articles of fashion advice so that the people who wanted fashion would be
satisfied yet the people who said no wouldn’t feel bombarded by it.

  • #3: I then asked ‘What is your age?’, the response was 6 teens and only 1 adult; I’m glad I got this result because I wanted to aim my magazine at teens so this reinforced that the teen demographic is large.
