Interconnections where cooperation and participation are required, not optional
The agents in the system are all components of the system.
CAS are made up of a number of participants. Each participant has thoughts and ideas about how they should function with the organization. They apply their ideas to the extent permitted. Their ideas and plans are continuously revised/adapted based on their experiences.
From a corp perspective, they are bottom up. The participants determine how to best achieve goals and how to organize in order meet their objectives. All of which is subject to change, based on their hands on knowledge and their results.
It is not an accident that we are where we are today.
emergence is the way complex systems and patterns arise out of a multiplicity of relatively simple interactions.
This is why people are so attracted to social media. It’s consistent with how the universe works and how we naturally want to give and receive information.
Social Media will deepen and broaden it’s reach as companies and individuals learn to master the behaviors that promote:
Connection, Interaction and The beginning of relationships around commerce and transactions.
The cornerstone beliefs and behaviors leading to mastering the art of social media effectivess are inclusiveness, adaptability and making the art of listening your predominant communication skill.

Complex Adaptive Systems and Social Media are not going to replace the way organizations are organized and function. Rather, they represent a new and powerful way for everyone in the organization to learn, improve and grow because:
Social Media provides a faster, broader path to acquiring knowledge from customers/consumers about your products and services.
That knowledge can be used to improve products/services, strengthen customer loyalty, develop better new products, build new relationships and strengthen existing ones.
Social Media, properly used, can do all of that faster and far less expensively than traditional methods.
