Wim Wenders is a German filmmaker born in 1945 who began his career in the late 1960s. Some of his notable early films include Summer in the City (1970) and The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty (1972). He is known for films that blend American and German styles such as The American Friend (1978) and Wings of Desire (1987). Wenders has had a significant influence on German filmmaking and has continued working successfully into the 2000s with films like Pina (2011), an homage to choreographer Pina Bausch made using 3D technology.

Early Life Wilheim Ernst Wenders, aka Wim Wenders was born in Dusseldorf on August 14 th , 1945. He began taking photographs at the age of 7 and by the age of 17 he had his very own equipment, including a darkroom. In 1966 he settled down in Monparnasse, Paris where he watched movies in his spare time.
