INTRODUCTION ▪ The initiative is about clean cooking energy solutions in Siaya county, Kenya. ▪ It is meant for two things – distribute efficient cookstoves and financial empowerment of the local communities especially women. ▪ It has saving and loan mechanism that enables the production efficient and affordable cookstoves ▪ The project also grants micro-loans to local communities for education or commercial purposes. HELPING PEOPLE â–ª Efficient cookstoves lead to use of less fuel â–ª It save money and time â–ª Efficient combustion result in cleaner indoor thus better health â–ª It improve the health of women and girls â–ª The project had also generated jobs for local communities.
HELPING PLANET â–ª Reduce amount of wood use hence conserve forest â–ª Prevent erosions and micro-climate conditions â–ª Sustainable use of woods and resources.
SCALE UP â–ª It has allow the purchase of carbon credits with long-term investment â–ª It enables local community at Siaya county to secure financial sustainability â–ª Provide basis for community engagement.
