Chaining A group of behaviors linked together where the previous behavior is the cue for the next and produces the reinforcer for the following. Keep doing behavior & giving reinforcements. Dating Activity You must now formulate a plan to woo your perfect mate. What sequence of events would you need to chain together in order to achieve this goal?  Your group has a minute and a half to draw a stick-figure comic strip showing these steps.  Also, list 3 mistakes (or behavioral extinctions) that would hurt your chances.

Extinction in WolfQuest  Extinction of non-beneficial behaviors in Wolfquest is DEATH! The following behaviors result in the death of your character: Not establishing your territory Failure to fight off predators Inability to properly choose a strong, healthy mate Not eating
Is this software a good portrayal?  All-in-all, this software does a great job of showing both chaining and extinction. The proper series of behaviors leads to the desired goal.  Also, each behavior cues the next and these are reinforced by successful reproduction. However, the behavioral extinction is only shown in one way: death. Ideally, lack of reinforcement would be shown by way of sickness, loneliness, injury, etc.
How Do They Relate?  WolfQuest Eat Ward off predators and competitors Protect / Establish a Territory Dating Comic Take mate to dinner Show good attire, have confidence... Better put a ring on it!

Editor's Notes

  1. Extinction is stopping a behavior by stopping reinforcements, therefore, the game is attempting to stop your behaviors that will lead you to death by not reinforcing them. For example, the game does not reward you for not eating and continuous starvation will lead to death.
