3. Joinery is a part of woodworking that involves joining
together pieces of timber or lumber, to produce more
complex items. Some wood joints employ fasteners,
bindings, or adhesives, while others use only wood
elements

5. 1) BASIC BUTT JOINT
A butt joint is a technique in which two pieces of material are joined by simply
placing their ends together without any special shaping. The name 'butt joint'
comes from the way the material is joined together
2) MITERED JOINT
7. 5) DOVETAIL AND BOX JOINTS/FINGER JOINT
The dovetail joint is commonly used to join the
sides of a drawer to the front. A series of 'pins'
cut to extend from the end of one board
interlock with a series of 'tails' cut into the end
of another board. The pins and tails have a
trapezoidal shape
HALF-BLIND
DOVETAIL JOINT
A lap joint or overlap joint is a joint in which the members overlap. Lap joints can
be used to join wood, plastic, or metal. A lap joint may be a full lap or half lap. In a
full lap, no material is removed from either of the members that will be joined,
resulting in a joint which is the combined thickness of the two members. In a half
lap joint or halving joint, material is removed from both of the members so that
the resulting joint is the thickness of the thickest member. Most commonly in half
lap joints, the members are of the same thickness and half the thickness of each is
removed.

10. A rabbet or rebate is a recess or groove cut into
the edge of a piece of machinable material,
usually wood. When viewed in cross-section,
a rabbet is two-sided and open to the edge or
end of the surface into which it is cut.
8) RABBET
10) DADO JOINT
A dado joint is made from a
three-sided channel cut across the
grain of one work piece. A second,
mating work piece fits into the
slot.Dado joints are often used to
build cabinets and bookshelves
11) POCKET-HOLE JOINERY
Pocket-hole joinery, or pocket-screw joinery,
involves drilling a hole at an angle usually 15
degrees into one work piece, and then joining it to
a second work piece with a self-tapping screw.
12) BISCUIT JOINT
A biscuit joiner is a
woodworking tool used to join
two pieces of wood together. A
biscuit joiner uses a small
circular saw blade to cut a
crescent-shaped hole in the
opposite edges of two pieces of
wood or wood composite
panels.
13) BRIDLE JOINT
A bridle joint is a woodworking joint, similar to
a mortise and tenon. You cut a tenon on the end of
one piece and a mortise into the other piece to
accept it. ... Therefore, there are only three gluing
surfaces. The corner bridle jointjoins two pieces at
their ends, forming a corner
