The tamandua is an anteater that lives in trees in South America. It uses its long, prehensile tail to grip tree branches and hang from trees. It has strong forearms and large claws that it uses to dig into termite and ant nests, eating about 9,000 ants per day with its long, sticky tongue. The tamandua can also be found walking on the ground. To protect itself from predators, it releases a horrible odor when threatened.
