Certainly the highlight for me this past term
was the Creative and Performing Arts
Night. It was fantastic to see the huge
support from the community and the
outstanding performances on stage from
all our students. I look forward to an even
bigger and better night next year.
Were shaping up for a very busy Term 3.
Our Year 12 students are currently sitting
for their Trial HSC and we wish them all
the best. Im sure that the students will
have something to celebrate at the Year
12 farewell assembly on Friday 20
September. Year 11 will be heading off for
the much anticipated annual trip to the
snowfields in Week 7. Its not all fun and
games though, as they will be sitting for
their final Preliminary Course exams in
Weeks 9 and 10. Congratulations to
Grayson Cooper of Year 10 who was 16
years age champion at the Sydney North
Regional Athletics Carnival.
Wyong Grove Public School once again
held their athletics carnival at Wyong
High School on 30th
July. It was great to
see our Year 9 Sports Coaching class
assisting on the day. They were extremely
helpful and responsible. It was wonderful
to see the older students caring for and
encouraging the younger ones. A great
day was had by all!
Student Principal
Being student Principal was going to be a walk in the parkNEWS FLASH,
no it wasnt. The opportunity of being the student Principal for the day
was so exciting that I only had a brief moment to compose myself.
I greeted the student body at the front gate; on assembly took a walk
through the office, attended a P&C meeting and the list goes on and on.
The highlight was a visit to Wyong Grove Primary School to address
Stages 2 and 3 about my day.
This was truly a day that Ill never forget and urge people to try and go
for the position in years to come.
This is Mr Burgoyne, signing out!!

The Gift of Life
Red Cross Blood Bank took pride of place in our
carpark as staff and students generously
donated blood. Did you know only 1 in 30
people give blood, but 1 in 3 people will need
blood in their lifetime. We urge those who can
to donate blood to give the gift of life.
Congratulations to Keira Metcalfe on her scholarship.

wonderful ambassadors for Wyong

Yr 10 Interviews
Year 10 interviews held on the 27th

students presented themselves very
well. Their research into their
chosen careers was excellent and
we were very impressed with their
appearance and ability to
communicate. Many thanks to Mr
Sugitha, Ms Hayward, Mr Carter, Mr
Hearn, Mrs Bayliss, Mrs Penni, Mr
Bracher, and Mr Blanch for their
assistance on the day.
Students of year 7 and 8 IT classes were asked to help make the year 6
orientation day better and easier for the year six students to understand, as well
as put a fun technology spin on it to make it interesting.
We found ourselves creating posters, QR codes and writing information to be
seen on the day. We learned a lot about our school system, the history and how
a QR code works.
Overall it was a productive learning experience and one I hope will be useful,
especially for the year 6s as it is a scary time when transitioning from primary
to high school. Courtney McDermott

Important Message:
A local accord between the retail outlet proprietors at
Wyong Plaza and Wyong High School has been
established. The accord stipulates that students are
encouraged not to be in Wyong Plaza before school or
at any time during school hours. As part of our duty of
care, we expect students to come directly to school in
the morning and to remain on school premises at all
times during the day.
The school would appreciate the support and
cooperation of all parents and carers of our students
in observing this agreement.
