1. ZAKI ABRAHAM BEBA APUUN MICRO-FINANCE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
SCHEME (ZABAMFAS)
FOUNDATION:
This scholarship schemewas founded for the purposes of remembering the Late
Mr. AbrahamKaase Beba Apuun of the blessed memory who cherished education
but out of his mingrefinancial resources didn’tachieve his desire for his
education and that of others. The inspiration and foundation for this project can
be dated back to 27th
May 1995 when he peacefully gave his ghostand accepted
the invitation of the Lord for eternal repose. This project was proposed by his first
son as a monumental synergy to eternalise and immortalise his name. A pledge to
continue his unachievable dreams in my own time or time to come.
BIRTH:
AbrahamKaase Beba Apuun was born 87 years to his death to the family of His
Royal Highness Apuun Kaakaa SwemAseela II of Mbaatsogo kindred of Yandev
district of Gboko Local GovernmentArea of Benue State. His father was the
second Royal King of Yandev District from1875-1926 between which Abraham
KaaseBeba Apuun was born.
As a young boy he was very close and attached to his father who would take him
on royalevents during his reign. He grew up to maturity with a high sense of
humility and zeal for truth, honesty, sincerity, faithfulness, socialand religious
responsibility. He was committed to what he believed in and accepted people’s
ideas with the zeal of administering truth of purpose. This formed his basic
philosophicalfoundation and concept.
TEENAGELIFE:
The young Beba’s teen life was little known sincemost of his teen generation
were all dead long before him. However, fromrecollection I can remember him
saying he was very attached to his father and he would not accept any proposal
except when his father allows him. Even though he was born in a royalhome he
lived an abject life of poverty as kings in those days werenot blessed with
2. affluence and wealth. He was a happy growing village boy who was satisfied with
the condition of the royalhome. As a young teen boy, Beba experienced a
temporal call to eternal bliss (possibly coma) butafter four (4) days he was raised
to life again to the amazement of his parents and those who kept wake for the
four days in preparation for his interment.
EDUCATION:
The young teenager had single or no opportunity of early education as it was the
believe that the son that was loved by the parents was not to be sent to the ‘or
batur’ to be indoctrinated with western education. The young Beba was a heroic
victim of the unprecedented circumstance. However, hewas not deterred by his
unfortunatefate but rather kept faith for what destiny held behind the
epistemology of mankind him. He grew in the knowledgeof his cultural education
but was able to know and appreciate his condition.
ADULT:
Beba grew to manhood and at this point had to partially separatehimself fromhis
father to scoutfor his livelihood. He joined in apprenticeship to one Late Mr. Ivase
Chichi of Mbayion district to learn wood work in carpentry. At the graduation of
his apprenticeship he accepted appointment to work with the Agricultural
Training Centre in Yandev (founded 1926) which today is known as Akperan Orshi
College of Agriculture. He later disengaged fromthe services of the training
centre and accepted appointment with the Benue State Government under the
ministry of Works and Natural Resources. However, as hewas doing this, his
unfathomed zeal for education was opening up which made him to get enrolled in
adult education (evening school) between 1975- 1977. Beba had kin interest in
Mathematics and handwriting. He was always ensuring thathis wards weregood
in these two areas. But unfortunately none of his wards turned mathematician or
the besthand writer.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Kaase Beba was a man loved by all who came in contact with him. He made sure
he positively touched the lives of those he met whether known or not acquainted
3. with was immaterial. He lived a life of admirable qualities that he became a point
of reference, an archive of strong philosophical tenets and methodology. Life for
him was all about doing well at all times and bringing smiles on the faces of
people.
The man Abrahamrepresented the true scripturalAbrahambecause of the faith
and strong confidencemany had in him.
However, whilestill working as a civil servant, he established one of the best
pharmaceuticals in Yandev district and for many years was successfully
administered. However, it was later drenched under the showers of criminality
and mischievousness.
On the level of education, he was able to help a few towards achieving somelevel
of education.
