Zeus was the most powerful god in Greek mythology and ruled the sky and thunder. He was married to Hera, the queen of the gods and goddess of marriage. The ancient Olympic games began in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece as athletic competitions between city-states and continued until being banned in 393 AD, later inspiring the modern Olympics which began in 1896.
