I was born on an estate and spent most of my life in my familys coal shed just outside in our backgarden. Life was very difficult, and we mostly had to rely on the stray dogs that came through the estate for clothing, food and company.
My parents emphasised how important it was to be self-reliant; I was never allowed to borrow their food ,money or anything off my parents . I felt outraged at the time, I worked extra hard looking for nourishment and finding the odd pennys on the floor and eventually aquired enough for my own food and clothes.
This allowed me to be more independent, and I decided to take up the art of reading
