I graduated from Winfield High (WV) in 1984, joined the Navy three weeks later, got out four years later, worked in the Institute chemical plant for a few years (1988-1992), went to college at West Virginia State (then College, now University), transferred to Marshall, got my Bachelor鈥檚 in English/Creative Writing in 1998, went to work for Lowe鈥檚, quit a year and a half later, bounced around a few retail management jobs, while serving in the Navy Reserves (spent a bit of time in the Iraq war), discovered that I wasn鈥檛 thrilled with either, left both behind in 2006, went back to school at Marshall and got my Master鈥檚 in English/Composition and Rhetoric in 2008, and have been teaching
