I worked as a chemist in the 1980's. For 15 years was involved in women's groups campaigning to stop violence against women. We were able to squeeze in the Domestic Violence Act which after over 10 years of campaigns. I left my chemist job because I felt there was a calling to find myself. I left the women's movement and did my masters in Theatre. We used theatre in creating awareness of violence against women and that it was wrong to hit or abuse the lady of the house. In those days in the late '80s many people had thought the privacy of the house should not be the knowledge for the public. But soon people realised that abuse was wrong and criminal.
