School safety plans should include:
1. Establishing a disaster management structure headed by the school executive and teams to handle warnings, evacuation, search and rescue, first aid, and fire safety.
2. Updating the school safety plan regularly, identifying incident commanders and teams for each floor and assembly areas, and notifying local emergency services.
3. Ensuring schools are equipped with items like whistles, shovels, buckets, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, phones, stretchers, torches, candles, and blankets to assist during disasters.
4. Conducting regular disaster response exercises involving both teachers and students to review and improve the school safety plan.
