My overall career goal involves the creation of a bridge between my basic science training (fluorescence spectroscopy, microscopy and cell biology) and clinical and translational applications of these technologies, in order to address real and current human health needs. My current specific interest is in the clinical translation of Multiphoton imaging from the bench to the bedside. Multiphoton microscopy allows the imaging of fresh living tissue (without any fixation or additional contrast), and provides images at a resolution comparable with the current gold standard for cancer diagnosis, namely, hematoxylin/eosin (H&E) stained histopathology.
