My research focuses on two major thrusts:
1) sustainable polymers from renewable biomass such as plant oils, rosin, fatty acids, furan, lignin, cellulose. We convert biomass into green intermediates, monomers and polymers. We are very interested in manufacturing next-generation bioplastics, elastomers and recyclable thermosets. We strive to develop efficient, eco-friendly and cost-competitive technologies and products for commercialization.
2) metal-containing polymers, primarily on metallocenes, especially cationic metallocenium. Both synthetic methodologies and polyelectrolyte chemistry are major ongoing tasks.
