I grew up in the Midwest where working hard was engrained in me from an early age. I was the oldest of five children and wore the crown of role model child 鈥� obey, don鈥檛 get in trouble and blend in.
In the work world I continued this 鈥榩roper鈥� blend-in behavior where I kept my head low and worked hard. My reality check was getting turned down for the first job promotion I put in for. What a blow. Blending-in I learned does not always work.
My life lesson was I needed to get positive credit for the work I had accomplished. I needed to stand out with the people that could help me move forward with my goals.
