Tyrone Grandison, Chief Technology Officer of Pearl Long Term Care Solutions and former Deputy Chief Data Officer of the U.S. Department of Commerce, presented on the impact of COVID-19 on the elderly. He discussed the stories of three elderly victims who died from COVID-19 in March 2020 and provided an overview of the current state of affairs. The presentation focused on mortality rates, challenges for long-term care, impacts on mental health, and risks of elder abuse during the pandemic. Grandison listed several data resources for monitoring COVID-19 impacts on the elderly population.
