Comenius project 2012-14

Primary School Tirnavos, Greece
Our school was really happy to
host the first project meeting
The plant we chose:
Grapes and grapevines
Students got all kind of
information about the plant and
its products.
We focused on wine and a local
drink: tsipouro.
One of our aims was to focus on
more plants and herbs that grow
in our area.
So we visited an environmental
school for one day.
After the class we visited a farm
where organic tea is cultivated.
The owners explained the
procedure and we asked them a
lot of questions.
Finally it was time to start our
own garden!!!
We gathered seeds and we
prepared seedbeds.

We also visited the city open market to look for local
products and we took some interviews asking questions
about the jobs, the financial perspectives, how hard it is to
produce and sell the products.
It was almost Christmas and we started preparing
our chocolate rocks
 and sweet honey buns
We decorated the walls in our classrooms with posters
from the project and we played  games out in nature
to learn more about it!!!
A field trip in a nearby hill
We made our own collection of seeds and we
played with them and used them in different
school events
Spring came and our little seedbeds
flourished. We are very proud of our
indoors gardens!!!
But it was time to move our plants to
bigger pots.
Everybody helped. We used cans and plastic
containers we had saved in our recycling boxes.
We decorated them and used them.
And we made our own garden!!!
