I live, eat and teach in South Korea...
Well, I was born in the tiny town of Rochford, Essex in England. I have lived here for most of my life. I do have a slight accent which seems to activate when I speak to my mum or if I am talking about things to do or places to go in London. I am asked constantly to speak with my accent or to say certain words or phrases like "A cup of tea" or "'innit?" I don't mind all that much but not all Brits talk like a chimney-sweep...Ow' 'bout a little silver to sweep ya's chimney, hey guv?" Yeah, we do not talk like Dick Van Dyke in the film Mary Poppins...we swear much more.
