I've been playing with computers since the stone ages, so after a few decades I'm like the proverbial Jack of all trades. I always get thrilled by a technology, ruthlessly abandoning it a year later for something even better. The sequence was like: BASIC, Pascal, C, PHP, Ruby on Rails, Flex, JavaScript. Or on the OS line: CP/M, DOS, Windows, Linux, OS X. And the databases: dBase, Access, MySQL, Google Datastore, MongoDB. It's like I'm searching for the holy grail, which I know does not exist. But getting there, gradually. I'm now trying to share my venture with a broader audience - thinking, blogging and public speaking.
