Was born of Rev. Fr. Givergis Paniker( a scholar in Syriac Language and Syrian Liturgy) and Aleyamma at Karichal in the Paniker Family of late Daivadasan Mar Ivanios the founder of the Reunion Movement and the First Metropolitan Archbishop of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church. The famous snake boat Karichal Chundan is the pride of the village. Has three brothers and two sisters one of whom is a Rev.Sister. Studied at St.Mary's School, Karichal and High School at Haripad. Received the priestly training at Minor Seminary Pattom and Major Seminary at Pune. Has Doctorate in Theology from Gregorian University, Rome. Taught Syriac Language and Literature for 19 years at St.John's College, Anchal
