Slaves resisted slavery during colonial times by attempting to escape, acting sick, working slower, and breaking tools. These same methods are used today by those resisting modern forms of wage slavery. The author recalls using such methods at past jobs and encourages readers to achieve full freedom by leaving their jobs to start their own businesses, as he and others have done. He promotes the idea that true freedom is better than perceived freedom under employment and urges readers to visit the listed website to learn how to gain their own financial independence.

How Did Slaves Resist Slavery?
2. Now this was an interesting question I came
across as I helped my step-daughter, Alexis, study
for her 4th grade social studies test she had the
other day.
They were studying life during the colonial times
and some of the things that slaves and children of
the colonists experienced during that period.
4. As Alexis began to answer the question while I
verified her answers on the worksheet, she
said:
By attempting to
escape, acting sick, working
slower and breaking tools.
5. Hmph, I thought
That sounds JUST LIKE what people do TODAY to resist
work or what is sometimes known as modern-day
slavery!
I almost couldnt believe how simple and to the point
the answer wasand how clear it was what the SLAVES
did!
6. I began to think about the times you and I live
inright now..
Then I asked the same question, just with more
politically correct wording(all of which is bull to
me, but hey, I understand it makes people feel
better to call it something else as opposed to looking
it straight in the face and calling a spade a spade)
8. And without being the pot calling the kettle
black, I thought about me, specifically, when I was
still working on the plantation (I mean in corporate
America, lol)
For a FACT I know there were more times than not
that I:
9. Acted Sick. How many of us do that? Take
sick time because we just dont feel like going to
work even though we are not really sick???
10. Worked slower. Oh yeah! When time is
going by and I didnt wanna be there, I would
work slower than normal so I didnt have to start a
new project or a new task before quitting
time. Cause when that clock said 7 Oclock pm I
was getting the hell outta there!
11. Broke tools. Well quite honestly, I never
worked with tools I could easily break. But
an occasional printer jam, or PC freeze were
my best friends! I LOVED when the
tools/equipment prevented me from working!
12. Attempted escape. Now this one I had to
think about. Because this is really my favorite.
14. Prime example, my friend Adrian Hines.
See Adrian knows the attempted escape method
oh too well, and thats because he attempted to
escape 2 times before it finally worked.
Heres what it looked like.
15. He was working a home-based business while
working his job. Once he started making a little
money from home, he quit the job (1st
attempted escape).
But before long, he realized he couldnt make it
out there in FREEDOM alone.
16. He didnt have the mindsethe didnt have the
financial resources, he didnt have the support
system and he just didnt have what it took to be
free at that time.
So, he went back. They didnt even have to look
for him, lol. He went back on his own
17. So again, after awhile, he quit that job too (2nd
attempted escape) and found himself back at
the mercy of the plantation owner again.
Then something happened before his 3rd attempt
at escaping.
18. o He planned for it.
o He budgeted for it.
o He calculated how much he would need to make
it right this time and not have to come running
back for help.
20. In fact, as I speak to Adrian, I get NO sense that
he is even considering crawling back to that place.
He is earning the income to maintain his freedom.
21. He has developed a free mentality which means
now, he is like me
Psychologically Unemployable!
22. He now has surrounded himself with other
freedom fighters who have escaped where they
share techniques and skills for being a free soul in
this enslaved society.
And you know what?
He deserves to be free!
24. When you know youre gonna eat each night
because you are sure to get a paycheck in
exchange for your labor, its easy to sit back and
act like youre okay with bondage.
But when you DONT know if youre gonna eat
each night, something happens.
25. You develop skills called tenacity and
persistence.
See without any challenge, you become
complacent. But WITH challenge, your body
responds to the best way to survive.
26. Now, on the plantation, tenacity and persistence
can probably get you a slight 4% raise after a few
years, a better title and maybe even a nicer
cubicle or office. But it wont be long until THAT
incentive is not enough either.
27. Because in exchange for those fancy house slave
benefits, you still remain unfulfilled. You still work
more than ever. You still dont have the time with
your family as you would like.
28. So overall, being persistent and tenacious is NOT
always ideal on the job. Many people actually
TURN DOWN higher positions with higher
pay, because they would have to make greater
time sacrifices. So they opt to stay at the lower
income levels and simply complain about not
having enough money, so they can maintain the
little freedom they seem to have.
29. Yet, in FreedomVille, those exact same skills, once
honed, actually make you more money while
spending less time doing the activity that
generates the money!
Exact opposite!
31. For them, it is just a test they are studying for and
answers they must remember long enough to
pass.
But for you and I, we know different.
32. We know that many are still living in the colonial
times, dont we?
We know that more often than not, people are
resisting slavery while choosing to stay in it.
33. However, we also know there is always a small
group of freedom fighters, of rebels, of
revolutionists, who say F this!
34. They realize its worth the attempted escape, for
as many times as it takesbecause real freedom is
always better than perceived freedom any day of
the week!
35. So let me ask you
Which group do you belong to?
Are you the slave who resists by breaking
things, working slower and acting sick? Yet
staying enslaved because you fear you dont have
what it takes to be free?
36. Or are you the escape artistthe slave who knows
ANYTHING is better than confinement, the one
who is willing to risk it all so their families can be
free, even if they never are?
See, I am a freedom fighter.
37. Like Harriet Tubman.
Yet, I am running this thing called the Virtual
Railroad, like Harriets Underground
Railroad, where I have freed myself and
am risking my freedom everyday to come back
here to move others down the road to freedom
too.
39. And yeah, some may call it stealing slaves, but
thats all a matter of perspective.
Slavery is illegalso to steal someone away from
an act that is illegal itself, should be deemed as
HEROIC!!!
40. And since Im free, I could very easily go live my
life. Get on the island of my choice, buy the things
I want, hire the tutors for my children to be
schooled on the go and not give one damn about
teaching you how to get free.
41. I could do that..
Like so many others have
But I didnt do it. I dont do it. I wont do it.
Why?
43. I know I was sent here to go through some tough
times and then make the decision to be free and
figure out the route to freedom.
I know I was sent here to have experiences where
I could then relate to those I am coming back to
get so they knew I understood them and that they
could trust me.
44. I know I was sent here to help break mental
shackles and chains,
Barriers and fear.
I know what freedom is like and I choose
everyday
45. Walk this railroad path
And allow those who are ready to follow the light
to freedom do just that.
No I never lived in the colonial times, nor did I live
during the times my ancestors were physically
enslaved.
46. However, God blessed me to live during THIS time
of mental and spiritual bondage, which technically
is even worse to me.
Why?
Because in this environment
47. People are actually enslaving themselves.
No more chains are even presentbut the
enslaved mind is scared to run
48. Today you can choose freedom..
Today you can decide to follow my lil lamp
Today you can change the course of how your
legacy is lived out over the next 100 years
49. Today you CAN BE FREE!!
