My experiences as an educator and technologist have combined nicely into my current position as ePortfolio Director at Virginia Tech. I hope to continue to grow this professional field, both by increasing use of new pedagogies at VT as well as helping to increase the relevancy of this pedagogy in US higher education. I hope to see a move towards increasing student ownership over learning, to increase self-determination as an important factor in education, and to increase student knowledge by decreasing reliance on non-direct evidence of student learning, such as grades.
