Began working in the substance abuse field in 1986 with the Marine Corps substance abuse control programs and served as the Marine liaison to the Portsmouth Naval Hospital from 1986-1990. Worked as a psychotherapist in area hospitals in the behavioral health units from 2005-2010. Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level in psychology and counseling in courses ranging from introductory psychology to master's level courses in group dynamics, substance use disorders, basic skills in counseling and practicum.
