Singapore and Germany share similarities in their political and social histories. Both countries had dominant ruling parties that citizens voted for due to perceived benefits rather than preference. Minority groups in both places also experienced prejudice, as Germans did towards Jews and Malays in Singapore have at times. There is a risk that if a authoritarian leader rose to power in Singapore's ruling party, they could potentially discriminate against an ethnic group, as Hitler did to Jews in Germany.

In the present situation of Singapore, there is only one Malay general in Singapore’s Military. They feared that the possibility of military classified/ confidential information being disclose to the Malaysia.
