Purely by chance I've ended up working in advertising after 'studying' that exact topic at University, all those years ago. However, despite a burning desire back then to work on the creative side of advertising, I find myself now having 7 years of sales experience that started in the fitness industry and spanned across SaaS, FMCG, Hospitality and now Media. Not the journey I expected, but one I've enjoyed and learnt from.
I now believe i've found an industry that's 'for me'. Many sales people will tell you that it's easier to sell something you like. I can tell you from experience that it's a lot easier still to sell something you believe in.
