DataFest Competition
Consulting for GridPoint Company
Led a team of 5 participating in DataFest, a team
competition among several universities in South-ern
California. Analyzed a large dataset from Grid-
Point Company which includes the weather condi-tions
and the energy consumed each hour for 110
buildings nationwide for the past three years. Per-formed
k-means analysis to cluster 110 buildings
on weather conditions and predicted the average
HVAC energy spent in one month.

Improving the Classification of ADHD
Applied semi-supervised learning on statistical mea-surements
of the histogram for MRI noise inten-sity
and differentiated artifact MRI images from the
clean ones, leading to a 6% increase in the testing
accuracy for ADHD classification by soft-SVM.
06/2014 – 08/2014

Data Mining the Enron Dataset
Conducted topic modeling and social network anal-ysis
to the Enron email dataset. Used probabilistic
latent semantic analysis to find latent topics and
detect the trend of changing topics. Performed
PageRank to detect the social structure of Enron
Company. Fitted a pairwise self-exciting point pro-cess
model to the whole dataset to detect local
communities. Applied time series analysis with
PCA to detect anomalies (events).
