B.R. Balachandran is an architect and planner with over two decades of professional and academic experience in architecture and urban planning. Currently, he is practicing as an independent consultant. From 2007 to 2012 he worked under the banner of Alchemy Urban Systems Private Limited, which he established with his partner Ms. Sowmya Balachandran in 2007. Before that he spent nearly a decade with Environmental Planning Collaborative (EPC), Ahmedabad, doing pioneering work in urban planning, primarily in Gujarat.
