I am strongly committed to the rights of the individual. Government must not be allowed to dictate values and goals to individuals. They must be free to use their own minds to define their values and free to take action to achieve their consequent goals. As a society, we should prohibit the initiated use of force, while fostering the development of the individual mind and its creative powers. This produces a society of harmonious individuals free to trade values voluntarily with one another so that everyone can pursue happiness. Large government necessarily deprives individuals of the right to choose their own values and goals.
