I have been running small businesses since 1981 and believe that the real task of the entrepreneur is to orchestrate people, processes and products around a coherent vision of what the organisation wants to achieve. I've always believed in embedding technology at the heart of business operations but recognise that this will fail if you don't do the people side of the business right and you don't make sure you sell things that people want to buy. At present I combine the role of Chairman of a family horticultural business with research into effective business processes - usually about how companies can use the internet but currently about workforce development in the horticulture industry
