- 6. ZIP & DRAW - Many jackets across the runway used zip front openings with a subtle drawstring at the hem. It is a small detail that adds a sense of quality and finish to a garment and helps create a new look for that trans- seasonal piece. FRINGING - An obvious trend for the season, fringing is key in creating that 70s style. Seen both on wovens and knitwear it comes in many lengths and forms. It easily translates to commercial product and looks great in store. INSERTS - This is a key detail for the season. Shown here lace; fagoting and broderie anglaise create feminine and fresh looks. Paneling and inserts weinserts were shown in many forms on the runway, from sheer panels, print mixing and textural contrasts. Adding additional seam detail to a garment instantly adds value. OPEN KNIT- Open knit and crochet like designs are an evident knitwear trend for the season. CaCage like knit tops with geometric patterns use smooth yarns to get a sharp finish. The tThe trend is also seen in sections, like necklines and shoulders. GATHER & CUT OUT - This soft detailing is ideal for fluid dresses and easy to wear tops. StStrategically knot, twist and tie drapey woven or jersey fabrics to create feminine relaxed garments with subtle cut outs and peek-a-boo styling. TIE FRONT - Waistlines were cinched in with various versions of tie front fastenings from Obi belts to self fabric sashes. RAW GATHERS - This is a great detail to include into soft skirts and dresses for Spring, talking back to the fringing trend. What is fashion? It's discipline. - 8. ACCESSORIESThe trends in apparel have made a direct transition through to accessories: 70s styling, fringing and tassels, raw edges, intriintricate patterns and finer embellished details. There is great opertunity here to broaden your range this season with so many options to inspire new peices. This collection of images inspire a new, more sophistiacted bohemian look that crosses borders with the glam styling of the later years of the 70s.
- 9. COLOURS FIND YOUR PALETTE - An eclectic array of colour was seen on the runway for Spring 2015. Palettes began at soft pastel, candy shades and traveled through to rich, deep hues of burgundy, brown and teal. As there is so much to choose from this season, we have narrowed down some commercial options ideal for the Australian market. - 13. MILITARY - The commercial update is in the print and detailing. The trend steers in two directions; infantry army styling with oversized pocket flaps and ppocket flaps and press studs, then over to formal officer details like decorative metal, dome buttons, epaulettes and fitted jackets. It is is huge trend that we will see carry over to Autumn/Winter 2016. DENIM - As well as the traditional jeans lower, many designers have used denim in various styles; from shirts to, blazers, to trench coats. Super clean and crisp weaves in dark yarns contcontrast to the worn, torn and graffitied, faded washes also seen on the runway. It gives options for diverse looks and themes for the summer months. An obvious denim trend is turned up hems on a straight or slightly wider leg cut. LIGHTWEIGHT PARKER - A clear highlight of the seasons trends for menswear. It works perfectly for the Australian ttrans-seasonal drop. The fabrics are super lightweight and smooth found in a selection of greens, neutrals and deep blues. GOLF JACKET - VVery basic,clean designs of this jacket were seen on the runway in both longer lengths and also slightly cropped. Zip openings aopenings are key, hardware was kept as a subtle feature, this is a great update for the season. The great thing about fashion is that it always looks forward. - 15. COLOURS FIND YOUR PALETTE - Neutral caramels and sandy beiges set a great base for the seasons palette. With the strong denim trend that is showing all shades of blue were present on the runway. From deep ocean blues, to dusty worn shades through to bright and light pigments, it is a must for the season. There is great oppertunity to freshen up palettes with a bright white or a dark navy.
