Public-private partnerships (P3s) have been used for infrastructure projects in Arizona for decades, though their use has increased recently. P3s allow governments and private companies to share skills, assets, risks, and rewards to deliver facilities for public use. Potential future P3s in Arizona include upgrading freeway lighting and developing the I-11 transportation corridor between Phoenix and Las Vegas to help address the state's $417 billion infrastructure needs. While not used as extensively as in some other places, there is growing understanding of and interest in P3s as a delivery method in Arizona.
