PROFILE As a Registered Nurse, I have always enjoyed a new challenge and being able to work with a team that is committed to providing the best individualized patient care. My belief is that when we know better, we do better. As Director of Education and Clinical Informatics at a small surgical hospital in Louisiana, my experiences in the past have prepared me for new projects such as Meaningful Use Coordinator, CPOE liaison, and Clinical Informaticist. Healthcare is changing and we must change with it. I believe that nurses must remain involved, as we are first and foremost the patient advocate, and I realize that this begins with our new graduates.I am active in both local and state nurses associations, both of which encourage the student nurses to begin getting involved early and staying involved throughout their professionalcareer. My professionalcareer has offered me many diverse opportunities, each preparing me for the next. My focus remains the patient and I remain open to new opportunities and welcome my next adventure. Organize and update patient education within the EMR based on diagnoses such as:diabetes,wound care, and surgery specific discharge care.
