OBJECTIVE
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:-
1. Pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and
intonation
ACTIVITIES
1. Teacher show pictures of a place she visited during the holiday. Pupils describe the
picture and talk about how they spend their holiday.
2. Teacher introduces herself to the class. Teacher uses the sentence pattern: My
name is... I am from... I live in …. I like …
3. Pupils practice the sentence pattern by using the questions: What is your name?
Where are you from? Where do you live? and What is your hobby? . Pupils
practice the questioning and answering session with a partner.
4. Pupils answer the questions in their exercise book.
5. Teacher wraps up the class with a song.

words within given context:
OBJECTIVE
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:-
1. apply knowledge of sounds of letters to recognise words in linear and non-linear
texts.
ACTIVITIES
1. Teacher recalls previous phonetic knowledge in standard 1. Pupils practice the
sounds of the alphabet with actions.
2. Teacher shows 10 single syllable words. Pupils try to read the words by blending
and segmenting the words.
3. Pupils read the single syllable words by practicing reading with a friend.
4. Pupils read a simple paragraph on page 4 textbook : The cat sat in a cot
5. Pupils copy the paragraph in their exercise book.

1. Form letters and words in neat legible print including cursive writing.
ACTIVITIES
1. Teacher shows a letter. Pupils try to describe it. Teacher explains how it works.
2. Teacher explains on the usage of capital letters and full stops in the sentences.
3. Pupils copy the examples given by the teacher.
4. Pupils rewrite a message with correct capitalization and full stops.
5. Pupils copy the message in their exercise book.

1. Enjoy and appreciate rhymes, poems and songs, through performance.
ACTIVITIES
1. Teacher shows a picture of a lamb. Pupils describe the picture. Colour, size, where
it can be found etc.
2. Teacher plays the song ‘Mary had a little lamb’. Pupils listen to it.
3. Pupils sing the song with music. Lyrics in page 8 textbook.
4. Pupils draw a lamb and its friend Mary.
5. Pupils sing the song again with actions.

2. Teacher guide pupils to do spelling correctly.
3. Teacher shows alphabetic picture. Pupils name it.
4. Teacher write on the board of the letterseparately.
5. Pupils complete them by merging the letter.
6. Pupils recapitulate today’s lesson.
