Marriott-Dodington WORK EXPERIENCE March 2016 to date Company : Viabuild Position : General Manager Project : Start Up and Run Road Construction Unit in Southern Africa Responsibilities Development and management of Viabuild as an operating entity in Africa, starting the business from grass roots with no resources on the ground. Sept 2011 to March 2016 Company : First Quantum Minerals Projects Division Position: Construction Manager/Project Manager Project : Sentinel Copper Process Plant Contract Value : 1.9 Billion US Dollars Responsibilities : The Contract was split into two entities Infrastructure, and Plant. I started on the Project as Superintendent/Construction Manager for infrastructure, which involved the construction of a new town, a golf course estate and resettling 600 families. I then took on the role of Project Manager for the Town Phase 2 Build and Deputy Construction Manager on the Plant. In December 2014 the Project Construction Manager was moved to the First Quantum Panama Project and I was moved into the Construction Manager role with the task of completing the Copper Plant and smaller Nickel Plant. In parallel I manage the budget for the Town Phase 2 build. Dec 2008 to Sept 2011 Company : Self Employed Consultant Consulting to : First Quantum Minerals Ltd Kenmark Construction (Zimbabwe) Responsibilities : With First Quantum Minerals I was involved in the budgeting, materials procurement and project startups on all new infrastructure Projects in Zambia, DRC and Mauritania. As I was based in Zimbabwe, Kenmark was where I based myself, doing tendering, project management, cost control and procurement for their large projects. June 1995 to Dec 1999 Company : Costain Africa Position : Senior Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities : Initial position was Senior Quantity Surveyor on the Zisco Ripple Creek Overland Conveyor Build, but then got involved with the commercial management of a number of the high rise buildings Costain were constructing in Harare, including the Reserve Bank Building. Nov 1990 to June 1995 Company : Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Position : Quantity Surveyor Balfour Beatty – AMEC Joint Venture Jubilee Line Extension - Jan 1994 to June 1995 Responsibilities: Commercial aspects of elements of the Westminster Station Box structure, including diaphragm walling, piling, mass earthworks and major temporary works. Subcontract procurement from enquiry through to production of subcontract orders and management of subcontract accounts. Setting up the budget and cost control mechanism for the Westminster section.
