The Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS) is a digital media distribution system launched in 2004. It consists of a hub that receives and distributes content, satellites, ground terminals, an IP infrastructure including a website and mobile apps, and a media relations team. The DVIDS hub is staffed 24/7 and can instantly distribute all content types worldwide. Content is received via satellites and ground terminals, processed, and made available on the DVIDS website and through the media relations team to media outlets.
