Carl began as a cameraman and editor, and later produced documentaries including the award-winning A Sarajevo Diary for Channel 4, one of the first documentaries shot on the low resolution format Hi8 and subsequently selling to TV worldwide through Jane Balfour Films, as well as screening at film festivals including the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam. The film was nominated for both the BAFTA Flaherty award and the Prix Europa.
His production consultancy service has been used by the BBC/Mosaic Films, the MEDIA Programme, Tall Stories/UK Film Council, Edgar Reitz (Heimat 1-3) amongst others. Carl鈥檚 debut feature
