This document summarizes a study on rural youth participation in farming activities in India. It surveyed equal numbers of male and female small and big farmers across 20 villages in Kolar and Bangalore Rural districts. The study found that rural youth, especially small farmers, have high participation in agriculture, horticulture, dairy, and sericulture operations. Overall, 68% of small farmers were found to have high participation compared to 58% of big farmers. The conclusion is that rural youth play an important role in agriculture and should be the focus of training and education programs.
