In 1995 I invented the VeinViewer to make subcutaneous veins easier to see for pflebotomy, pflebology, and vascular surgery. The device projects an image of subcutaneous veins onto the skin. I did research on this device while an Associate Professor of BME at UTHSC. I receved patents for the device in 1999 and 2003. In 2001 I founded the company Luminetx in order to commercialize my VeinViewer invention. I was the original investor in the company and funded the development of the first three prototypes in 2004. I also did the first PR campaign for the company which led to the VeinViewer appearing in the November 29, 2004, issue of Time Magazine as one of the best medical inventions...
