I grew up on a Ranger Station at Pinecrest in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. My first school had thirty kids for eight grades and since we didn't have a gym, PE was held every Friday at Dodge Ridge the ski resort five miles away. When I was eight we moved to Bend Oregon where my Dad became the first director of the Lava Lands Visitor Center.
In Bend I learned many outdoor skills like rock climbing, kayaking, orienteering, cave exploring & moto cross. I was taking lesson to fly gliders, but never finished.
