Karl Grubaugh, who has an MA in journalism from the University of Missouri, teaches government/economics and advanced journalism at Granite Bay (Calif.) High School, where he also advises the award-winning student newspaper, the Gazette. He's taught for more than 25 years, and he also has 25 years of freelance and part-time print journalism experience. In addition to teaching and advising, he currently works as an on-call copy editor at the Sacramento Bee. He was the 2008 Dow Jones Newspaper Fund National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year.
He and his wife, Tanya, live with their children in Cameron Park, Calif.
