Lyrics
► Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.
    Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your overlords.
On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.
So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing.
The song lyrics are written from the
perspective ofVikingsrowing west from
Scandinaviain search of new lands. The
lyrics make explicit reference to Viking
conquests and the Old Norse religion
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.

These are the two first lines of the first stanza of
the song. This part of the song is about the
Vikings that moved to new lands. The Vikings
came from three countries of Scandinavia:
Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
Vikings’ History
The Viking age in European history was
about 700 AC to 1100 AC. During this
period many Vikings left Scandinavia and
travelled to other countries, such as Britain
and Ireland. Some went to fight and steal
treasures. Others settled in new lands as
farmers.
Vikings travelling to new lands.
To fight the horde, singing and crying:
        Valhalla, I am coming!

Valhalla means Hall of the Slain, or Hall of the
Chosen. Those who died in battle who
prayed to Odin would cross the bridge of
three fires Bifrost to enter Asgard, and be
 welcomed into Valhalla.
Conclusion and References
► We like this song. It is an old song but it is
catchy and a heavy metal classic. It deals
with an interesting topic of history.
