The 1st Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry, also known as Gillis Ka Paltan, was raised in January 1757 and fought in several battles for the British army such as Plassey, Korah, Dehlee, and Laswarrie. The regiment rebelled against the British at Cawnpore in 1857 during the Indian Rebellion and was finally disbanded on April 13, 1859 after fighting at Cawnpore, Lucknow, and disappearing in the Nepal foothills.
