This study assessed flora biodiversity in the Shambayung Community Forest in Bhutan to determine if it could support a payment for environmental services (PES) program like ecotourism. 20 transects were surveyed within the forest, counting individual tree, shrub, and herb species. A total of 3.19 species diversity was found, indicating high biodiversity suitable to support PES. Shrub diversity and richness was higher than trees and herbs. When compared to other forests, Shambayung had higher diversity but lower tree richness. This information can help determine if ecotourism or other PES programs could be viable based on the forest's flora biodiversity.
