The theory of the metaphor is one of the more complex subjects of the linguistic studies and perhaps a field with vast unexplored horizons on which there is still much to be learned, even in terms of their gnoseological implications. Ortega y Gasset has made a valuable contribution to the theory of metaphor by means of various considerations that he has done throughout his works. His bright lucid, powerful insights into its scope, masterfully expressed by his pen, represent a significant advance over some contemporary studies on the subject. This paper attempts to collect these scattered considerations in his works; present them systematically and show the incardination of this theory in the epistemological thought of Ortega. The sense of this theory, in our opinion, keeps its worth regardless of the metaphysical principles supported by the Spanish philosopher.
This document analyzes the spatial distribution and socio-economic aspects of slum dwellers in Neyyattinkara Town, Kerala, India using GIS. There are 13 slums housing 2.8% of the town's population. The study aims to map slum locations, analyze household social conditions, economic conditions, and identify problems/solutions. Key findings include the majority of slum households belonging to scheduled castes, most slums having high proportions of Hindu and Muslim families, over half of households being migrants, main occupations being coolie and petty trading, and most homes having thatched roofs and mud walls/floors.
