- 1. A little about myself. Hello, My name is Andrew Robinson; I am currently employed as a rigger/radio commissioner in the telecoms industry following an eventful 15 years in overhead Transmission work that has taken me all over the UK and France and as far as Australia. For much of this time I have been a NGC approved competent person, holding countless permits for various clients such as National Grid and UK Power Networks during the refurbishment of their structures and assets. I have often been responsible for the supervision of up to 8 men, involved in complex rigging and heavy lifting operations on both transmission and substation works I have attained an extensive wealth of rigging experience, Slinger / Signaller methods, climbing and rescue techniques and all aspects of mast and tower erection, refurbishments, commissioning and decommissioning. Additionally, utilising the plant needed to complete these works at height such as numerous winches, Hiabs and MEWPs and the ATV vehicles to enable access to such sites. Whilst working for Poletecs I have also spent some time heavily involved in surveying existing lines, data collection, and the quality auditing and photographic recording of works undertaken, with a main focus on the adherence of the relevant RA/MS for the given task. I currently hold Arqiva approved tickets such as advanced climber, first aid at height, rooftop access, RF awareness asbestos awareness and tower rescue. I have no aversion to working away for extensive periods or travelling and have no problems with paperwork and recording procedures. I take pride in being physically fit and am highly motivated either as part of a team or lone working and believe I can get on with anybody, both in and out of the work place.
