Our inspiration for the album cover came from Katy Perry's album Prism. We used images and templates similar to hers to appeal to our target audience of similar ages and genders. Our cover features the artist in the center using rule of thirds, with a colorful background and bold typography like Perry's cover. We diverged by using a white background instead of green screen to keep it simpler. Artist Title The close-up shot of the artist is effective because it allows consumers to clearly see her facial expression which would attract the female audience in particular to idolise her makeup style and therefore influence them to purchase the digipak more. Lady Gaga The image of the artist is effective because the audience have nothing else to look at on the digipak so this encourages people to look at the main subject (Lady Gaga). The black and white effect used contrast well with each other which is successful and particularly the artists red lips stand out to the audience as a result of it being the only bright colour used on the digipak. These lines show the central positioning of the image by using the rule of thirds. This helps to give the digipak a more professional look and also makes it look more organised.

The colour scheme of only using the colours red, black, white and gold is effective because they all contrast really well with each other. The gold necklace which represents a chain links to prison and a connotation meaning could be that its been stolen suggesting he is portraying a criminal. The striped clothing he is wearing also relates to what prisoners might wear. These all work well together to portray the artist as a criminal which relates well to the album name ‘Classic gangster’. From having a warning at the bottom of the album about ‘explicit lyrics’, it is informative but mainly this defines the target audience which are older people than younger people.

The letters in the title of the album are widely spaced out which is effective because this makes good use of space on the album cover and as a result reduces the amount of blank space so it is more likely to attract the eyes of the artist’s target audience.
