CLIENT RESEARCH THE NORTHERN ECHO

The northern echo asked me to design a magazine for
    them
Because my client is the northern echo my magazine will
have to be unbiased and written in a way that shows
   impartiality.
The magazine will need to be written in a formal way that
    avoids slang and foul language.
The imagery in my magazine cannot contain any nudity
due to the audience my magazine is aimed at and the
    clients style of working.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
The magazines target audience is 16 and upward.
This meant designing a product that appeals to a wide age range.
My product is designed in a way that looks modern whilst still lets the audience realise
   what it is about.
The tribe I will target will be the geek tribe, they are very interested in the technical
specifications of technology so I will make sure to leave these details in and add
breakout boxes that explain technical terms.
By adding these breakout boxes it allows the secondary audience to still understand
    the magazine.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH - BRANDS

This is a picture containing
brands that my readers usually
buy or are interested in.

My magazine will try to feature
products from these brands.

Some are more expensive than
others I will make sure my
articles feature a good mix.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH - BRANDS

This graph shows which
cameras were the most
popular for 2012 I will use this
to work out what camera
brands to focus on and which
ones to feature less
GENRE RESEARCH
when conducting genre research I looked at many different leading photography
magazines, this let me see what my magazine should look similar to and what that
audience looked for I a magazine.
The images in the genre always have information of how they were taken so I will use
these in my magazine. The leading brands also had a set colour scheme I will also
    do this.
Other magazines seemed to only review extremely expensive and luxury items, to
make my product stand out I will review affordable equipment for the aspiring
photographer or someone looking for a good deal.

MY MOCK-UPS
              These are my two mock-
ups, the second is the one
              my audience preferred
              most however I will
              change the colour and
              add an opening
              paragraph rather than
              just lines of text. The
article will be split up into
              different sections to make
              it easy to read and
              pleasing to the eye.
OUTLINING MY IDEAS
The language I have used is very specific to this genre, however when I make my final
adjustments I will add breakout boxes that explain technical terms.
I will change the colour scheme from red, black and white to orange, blue and white.
The orange blue contrast is widely used in multimedia this will make my product
look familiar to my audience and also looks a lot more modern and bright.
My images will be mixed in with the text meaning that the reader doesnt need to look
away from the text too see the imagery, this also makes the page look less square
   and more original.
Most articles will be split up into around four to five sections this will mean the page
will be easier to read and the readers eyes wont become tired from reading a solid
   block of text.
OUTLINING MY IDEAS
When creating a final article I will redo most of my writing so that it is easier to read
  and understand.
I have decided to not use a boarder as it makes the article look old and is likely to be
over looked by my target audience.

PRODUCT VIABILITY
Aperture magazine will cost 贈4.00 this is cheaper than most other photography
magazines and should give me the edge in sales.
My total expenditure will be 贈9,285.90 the majority of this is due to printing costs
because it is a photography magazine paper quality is extremely important so that
the images look sharp and colourful.
PRODUCT VIABILITY
Most of my income comes from sales but advertising will make up a lot of my profits.
Estimated 贈6,500 from advertising
Estimated 贈12,000 from sales
This means the total income will be 贈18,500
With distributing company's and wholesalers taking 50% that leaves me with a profit
   of 贈13,857.05
SCHEDULE
My magazine will be a monthly magazine meaning there will be plenty of time to
prepare new editions and have them printed in advance.
To make sure I sell enough magazines I will print double of what is expected, this
means if magazines are damaged they can be easily replaced.
By printing double I will also be able to keep up with demands if estimates are
    succeeded.
When the magazine is in shops I will have it placed on the middle shelf, that way it is
directly eye level and should be the first thing people see, this will help increase
  sales figures.
